Scottish rockers, The Fratellis, have announced that they have officially split. Frontman Jon Fratelli (real name Jon Lawler) revealed the split on the band's official website.
All has been quiet on the Fratelli front since the release of their second album 'Here We Stand' back in 2008. Lawler is currently working on his Codeine Velvey Club with former burlesque performer Lou Hickey, and announced in the post that, "Mince, Baz and I are working on music but not with each other." He also wrote: Speaking of his new sideproject, Lawler said "We recorded a bunch of songs. Rhythm N Blues Prostitute is exciting me a lot. Heavy heart but music is always the most important thing." Meanwhile, bassist Barry Fratelli (real name Barry Wallace) also made a post.
"I hope everyone is well. We really do appreciate the support and enthusiasm that you guys show to this band ... As that's the case, we want to keep you up to date. We have no plans to work together right now ... Your passion is appreciated more than we will ever be able to say. We'll forever give our hearts and souls to music and to you guys who want to hear what we do."
"From the first day we got together, The Fratellis never had a plan as such. We knew we were good and had a chance to make it.
"Turns out we were right, everything fell into place and we've spent the last five or so years touring the world, sharing great music with you. At this point in time, though, we've found our selves making music still but just not together.
"You mean the world to us, Fratelli fans, look after yourself and each other.
